OVERVIEW We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Communications Intern to support our Marketing and Communications team. This role is ideal for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in corporate communications, content creation, and brand messaging. The intern will assist in developing and executing internal and external communications that align with our organization’s voice and values. Reporting to Director, Stakeholder Relations the Communications intern will supporting the implementation of marketing and communication initiatives for Circular Materials (CM) and other client programs. This is a 4-month internship position for a current University student and requires residency in Canada. RESPONSIBILITIES Provide support and graphic design for the development of recycling awareness campaigns and educational materials for a variety of stakeholders and audiences, including key stakeholders, internal and external. Support project management of key initiatives and ensure various design and content needs progress to a production-ready state for web and print. Writing and editing of communications material – digital and print. Help maintain and update website content for partners. Provide organizational support on various digital marketing and communications elements including website updates, direct email, surveys, online forms, and online meeting management. Ensure all communications are consistent with brand guidelines and organizational messaging. Provide general administrative support to the communications team as needed WORKS WITH Internal Relationships CM Marketing & Communications team Customer Relations Other internal CM teams as needed External Relationships Client Program staff Advertising/marketing agencies Print, design, media and other suppliers Other externals stakeholder QUALIFICATIONS Education Currently pursuing a degree in Communications, Business, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field. Experience Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite). Experience writing for different audiences or platforms. Knowledge of MS Office tools and Google Workspace. Familiarity with social media platforms and content management tools. Knowledge/Competencies/Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) concepts and the ability to communicate and apply AI technologies effectively within a business context. Highly detail-oriented and organized with a strong sense of urgency. Effective judgment, decision-making skills and problem-solving skills. Self-guided, able to manage several key initiatives simultaneously with minimal supervision and can work well in a collaborative team environment. Strong relationship building, collaboration, and team building skills. High performer with a positive attitude and the desire to grow and learn. Creative team player who’s not afraid to think outside the box digitally savvy. Skilled in storytelling, branding, and digital communications. Portfolio and/or Work Samples Required During the initial application or interview phase for short listed candidates, submissions of work samples or access to your portfolio will be required. WORKING CONDITIONS All CM employees work 40 hours per week, remotely from a Canadian home office environment. PAY TRANSPARENCY Expected Compensation: A salary of $14,700 for the 4-month term. The salary listed complies with the Ontario Employment Standards Act and reflects working full-time hours. Job Vacancy Reason This is a new 4-month internship role.
