Department Overview:
The Technology and Development Department is responsible for designing,
building, and maintaining the digital systems that support Internera and its
projects. This department focuses on creating practical technology solutions
that help businesses operate more efficiently and connect with customers more
effectively.
This is a hands-on opportunity to work on a real product in development, gaining
experience in coding, database architecture, and startup technology development.
The position is ideal for a computer science or software engineering student
interested in building scalable systems and turning business ideas into working
software.
One of the primary initiatives within this department is the development of an
event discovery and distribution platform that allows businesses to post events
and users to easily find things happening in their area. The department works on
building the underlying application, structuring databases, managing system
architecture, and ensuring the platform is scalable and reliable.
In addition to product development, the department supports data organization,
system integration, and technical improvements that help Internera and its
client businesses operate with greater efficiency.

Qualifications:
Required:
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Software
Engineering, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
Basic understanding of programming concepts and software development
Familiarity with at least one programming language such as JavaScript, Python,
or similar
Strong logical thinking and problem-solving ability
Ability to work independently on technical projects
Preferred:
Experience building or contributing to web or mobile applications
Experience working with databases such as SQL, PostgreSQL, or similar systems
Familiarity with APIs and system integrations
Experience using Git or version control systems
Interest in startup product development or building new technology platforms
Additional Traits:
Curious and eager to learn new technologies
Detail-oriented when designing systems and databases
Able to translate ideas and requirements into technical solutions
Comfortable testing, troubleshooting, and improving systems as they evolve
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge:
Understanding of software development fundamentals including programming logic,
data structures, and application architecture. Familiarity with how databases
are structured and how data is stored, retrieved, and organized. Knowledge of
web applications, APIs, and how digital platforms function. Basic understanding
of system performance, debugging, and troubleshooting. Awareness of how
technical systems support real business operations.
Skills:
Ability to write, test, and improve code using common programming languages such
as JavaScript, Python, or similar languages. Skill in designing and organizing
databases so information can be stored and accessed efficiently. Ability to
analyze problems and develop logical technical solutions. Skill in reading and
understanding existing code, documenting systems, and maintaining organized
technical workflows. Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly as the
platform evolves.
Abilities:
Ability to translate business ideas into functional technical systems and
features. Ability to work independently on development tasks while communicating
progress and challenges clearly. Ability to identify inefficiencies or technical
issues and improve system performance. Ability to think through scalability so
systems can grow as more businesses and users join the platform. Ability to
remain organized and focused when working on complex technical problems.
Position Summary/Job Duties:
The Software Developer and Database Intern supports the development of
Internera’s event discovery and distribution platform by helping design, build,
and maintain the technical systems behind the application. This role focuses on
coding core features, structuring databases, and developing the backend
infrastructure that allows businesses to post events and users to discover them
easily.
The position provides hands-on experience building a real technology product
from the ground up. The intern will assist with application development,
database management, testing, and system improvements while helping translate
business ideas into functional software. This role plays a key part in creating
a scalable platform that can support multiple businesses and large volumes of
event data.
