Center for Internet Security · Remote · Internship

The UX Intern – AI & Innovation is part of the Sales and Business Services department, which resides on the UX Design team and reports to the UX Team Lead. As our UX Intern you will be focused on AI & Innovation related to UX Design & Research. You'll work on real design challenges — creating prototypes, sitting in on user research sessions, and helping us build the kind of fast, feedback-driven design process our growing product organization needs. If you're excited about the intersection of AI and design, passionate about understanding users, and curious about how cybersecurity products are built and experienced, this is the role for you. What You'll Do: Research, evaluate, and use AI tools to rapidly ideate and prototype product concepts for user validation — helping us get lightweight versions in front of users faster Participate in user research sessions, developing an understanding of who our users are, what tasks they're trying to accomplish, and what gets in their way Assist in building out our user research program — including organizing and categorizing user feedback by product and user type, and helping track insights from sources like support tickets, surveys, and user interviews Contribute to design system and style guide work, supporting visual and interaction consistency across products Collaborate with the UX Team Lead, product managers, and engineers to validate ideas early and often Document research findings and prototype iterations, and help communicate UX recommendations across the team Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned What You'll Need: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in HCI, UX Design, UI Design, User Research, or a related field Genuine interest in AI/ML and hands-on experience with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, or similar) Familiarity with prototyping tools such as Figma or similar Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions and research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences Curiosity about users and a genuine interest in understanding their needs, not just their behaviors Self-starter mentality with a bias toward action and iteration Must be authorized to work in the United States It's a Plus if You Have: Familiarity with product management frameworks (user stories, roadmaps, prioritization) Experience conducting or participating in user research (usability testing, interviews, surveys, etc.) Basic familiarity with cybersecurity concepts or prior exposure to technical environments — you don't need to be an expert, but comfort with technical language goes a long way Experience with design systems or contributing to shared component libraries Coursework or projects involving information architecture, interaction design, or research methods Exposure to tools like Jira, Notion, or Confluence At CIS, we are committed to providing an inclusive environment in which the diverse backgrounds, experiences, and views of our employees, members, and customers are valued and respected.
